Worker rights

Supporting vocational training for unemployed workers so that they can return to the labour market as soon as possible is one of the benefits that workers enjoy when participating in unemployment insurance.

Since the beginning of the year, the Da Nang Employment Service Centre has maintained connecting job seekers with vocational training courses and at the same time recommend them to participate in periodic job consultancy and referral sessions after course completion.

At the end of April 2024, due to difficult family circumstances, Ms. Nguyen Thi Th, Hoa Xuan Ward, Cam Le District quit her job at Foster Electronics Co., Ltd. located in Hoa Cam Industrial Park. When she went to the Da Nang Employment Service Centre to apply for unemployment benefits, Ms. Thi was advised to participate in vocational training and she registered for a drink mixing technique class. After that, Ms. Thi opened a coffee, juice, and smoothie shop at home, ensuring her livelihoods.

Similarly, after quitting her job at a company in the Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, Ms. Le Thi Thu Ha, 41, was advised by staff at the Da Nang Employment Service Centre to take a 3-month food processing technique class. After graduating, Ms. Ha opened a food shop with a stable income.

Meanwhile, after 20 years of working as a preschool teacher, Ms. Dong Thi Kieu Oanh from Hoa Thuan Tay Ward, Hai Chau District decided to quit her job and find a new direction to change herself. Up to now, the restaurant has been operating effectively with stable revenue.

In a similar vein, after graduating from the food processing technique course, Ms. Vo Thi Bich Chau applied to work as a catering staff at the May 19 Kindergarten in Hai Chau District. According to her, although the course lasted three months, it helped equip trainees like her with basic and necessary vocational skills, helping them find jobs or create their own jobs, and stabilise their lives.

Promoting vocational training

According to the Da Nang Employment Service Centre, in order to soon bring workers back to the job market, contributing to ensuring social welfare balance, vocational training counseling continues to be maintained for the unemployed.

At the same time, the centre usually organises vocational training counseling booths at job fairs and provides vocational training counseling for soldiers who have completed their military and public security services.

By the end of August 2024, the centre had provided vocational training counseling to 11,910 people with such occupations as food processing techniques, beverage mixing techniques, cosmetic makeup and basic nail care; opened 29 vocational training classes for 680 workers and issued vocational graduation certificates to 380 students.

In order to continue to increase the number of unemployed people participating in vocational training, the above-mentioned centre innovates recruitment consulting methods such as hanging promotional banners; direct consultation; consultation by phone, website, social networking applications; consultation at job fairs, vocational education recruitment consulting for students and workers in the city.

In addition, research is being done to open more training majors and occupations, creating conditions for workers to have more career choices when registering for vocational training.

In parallel with vocational training, the centre focuses on introducing jobs to trainees after completing the courses, thereby, further improving the quality of vocational training at the centre, promoting its certain reputation in the eyes of the participants.

According to the centre’s Deputy Director Nguyen Thanh Diep, in the remaining of this year, the centre plans to provide vocational counseling to more than 3,000 people, organise 20 vocational training classes with the participation of more than 500 students.
