Multiple solutions implemented for "Employment Programme"
To execute the "Employment Programme" for the 2021-2025 period, Da Nang aims to create 34,000-35,000 jobs annually and reduce the unemployment rate to below 3% by the end of 2025. To achieve this goal, the city is implementing comprehensive measures to expand job coverage to a wide range of workers.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Y Nhi, Head of the Labour, War Invalids, and Social Affairs Department of Thanh Khe District, local authorities have effectively promoted employment and vocational training programmes, ensuring that people are connected with recruitment information and job support, both domestically and internationally. This contributes to creating high-income, stable, and sustainable employment opportunities for workers in the two wards.
Furthermore, the Thanh Khe District People's Committee recently collaborated with the district-based Youth Union and the Business Association to launch the "Thanh Khe Employment" platform. This initiative aims to connect job seekers with businesses by posting recruitment needs on the Thanh Khe New Day page, the district's electronic information site, and the "Thanh Khe Employment" platform, making it easier for workers to access information and apply for jobs.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung, Chairman of the Trade Union organisation of the Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones in Da Nang, stated that the demand for labour in the city's industrial zones is substantial, especially in preparation for holiday and Tet orders. Information and job referrals for workers are regularly posted by trade unions on Facebook. Currently, many businesses in the city are proactively reaching out to vocational education institutions to request training and recruitment of students before and immediately after graduation. In several sectors, students are even employed before completing their studies, such as welding and garment industries.
According to the municipal Statistics Office, the job creation loan programme currently manages VND 3.499 trillion. As of the end of June 2024, VND 836 billion has been lent to 12,295 projects, creating jobs for 12,336 workers, with an average loan of over VND 67 million per worker. The city's various economic sectors are estimated to have generated employment for 4,030 workers, including 3,030 new positions. Since the beginning of the year, 149 workers from Da Nang have gone abroad for work, mainly to Japan, while 421 seasonal agricultural workers have been sent to South Korea.
As stated by Nguyen Thanh Diep, Deputy Director of the city's Employment Service Centre, in July 2024, the city held three job fairs with the participation of 343 businesses, offering 22,115 job positions.
Additionally, the city is actively supporting workers in finding temporary employment abroad and has entrusted the Social Policy Bank's branch to disburse loans for job creation projects.
Da Nang is also implementing policies to support and provide vocational training for social policy beneficiaries, social groups, and young people who have completed military service.
