Ms. Nguyen Thi Lanh, residing at K2/28 Bau Trang 7, Thanh Khe Tay Ward, Thanh Khe District, Da Nang, is admired by many for overcoming adversity and triumphing over her circumstances.

Ms Lanh has risen above adversity and triumphed over her circumstances.

Ms Lanh, who has physical disabilities, started her own online business despite lacking initial capital. She took on every role, from production to marketing and delivery, and eventually built her own brand. Beyond her business, she actively participates in cultural and social activities within the community, earning numerous achievements.

Initially, her business struggled due to limited customer awareness and inconsistent income. However, she boldly took out a VND 50 million loan from the preferential fund for people with disabilities at the Da Nang branch of the Viet Nam Bank for Social Policies. She invested in her products and learnt new sales techniques, which gradually improved her business.

While working to provide for her three children and facing financial hardships, Ms Lanh still manages to exercise from 5:00am to 6:30 am every day. This routine not only strengthens her physically but also enhances her skills for participating in local and national sports competitions for people with disabilities. She covers all training costs herself, as she has yet to receive any sponsorship.

Balancing her finances and family responsibilities, the woman continues to engage in social activities, leaving her with little free time. She believes in striving to make a positive impact on the world, creating a solid foundation for her children to nurture their dreams. Despite the challenges, she has never harboured negative thoughts or felt disheartened by her fate.

Thanks to her perseverance, she has reaped rewards in various areas. Her business now has a stable customer base, providing a secure income for her family.

In the cultural sphere, Ms Lanh has participated in numerous activities organised by the municipal Association for the Disabled, such as a dance performance that won first prize and a play that took second place. She has also raised over VND 29 million, distributing 95 gifts to disabled individuals in Thanh Khe District and members of the Women's Disability Club.

In sports, Ms Lanh is a para-badminton athlete for Da Nang. Since 2021, she has won two gold medals in city-level competitions for people with disabilities, and one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals in national competitions. In 2022 and 2023, she received two Certificates of Merit from the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports and the Da Nang Association for Supporting Orphans and the Disabled.

In addition to these activities, Ms Lanh is an active member of the Women's Disability Club and contributes to social work in her community.

In any role, she actively participates in the movements organised by various levels. As a result, in 2022, she won second prize in the Excellent Propagandist competition held by the Thanh Khe Tay Ward Farmers' Association, third prize in the district's competition, third prize in the "Dream Nurturing Families" contest organised by Thanh Khe District Women's Union, and a consolation prize in the "Entrepreneurship Ideas" contest. She was also recognised by the Thanh Khe Tay Ward People's Committee for her contribution to patriotic movements.

In general, Ms Nguyen Thi Lanh is a shining example of a disabled person who has succeeded in multiple fields and social activities. Her story inspires young people to continue their journey through life, no matter how challenging it may be.
