Ensuring daily cleanliness and beauty of Bach Dang Walking Street

According to the pilot plan approved by the city, Bach Dang Walking Street is located along the extended Bach Dang road and operates from 3:00 pm to midnight every day. Once the designated hours are over, activities and services on the street cease, and a clean-up process begins in order to return the area to its original condition. Therefore, ensuring environmental hygiene is a priority.
Mr. Huynh Quang Nguyen from the Hai Chau District-based Environmental Enterprise, shared that environmental cleanliness is maintained systematically and efficiently to preserve the street’s aesthetic appeal.
In addition to raising awareness among organisations, individuals, and visitors about adhering to rules, regular cleaning is essential to restore the street’s visual appeal and allow for smooth traffic flow. The cleaning process, completed before 3:00 pm daily, involves sweeping, collecting waste, and clearing rainwater, wastewater, and stagnant water from the road and pavements. Streets are also washed with water during hot weather or when there is an unpleasant smell.
Waste bins are cleaned, and garbage bags are replaced to ensure a neat appearance. Public toilets must remain clean, free of odour, and equipped with necessary sanitary items for visitors.
Mr. Tran Van Lang, a tourist from Ha Tinh Province, remarked that Bach Dang Walking Street is beautifully decorated, airy, and clean. Despite the large number of visitors, the area remains safe and tidy.
According to Mr. Ho Trong Khanh, Director of Hai Chau Environmental Enterprise, during the street's operational hours, from 3:00 pm to midnight, workers are stationed along the street to collect and transport waste from the bins promptly, preventing overflow. At least four workers are assigned to ensure continuous cleanliness and to manage any waste that is improperly discarded. In addition, workers are stationed from 5:00 am to midnight daily to maintain the cleanliness of the two public toilets on the street.
Once the street closes at midnight, all waste generated by the kiosks and mobile vendors is collected and transported to a designated waste disposal site managed by the Da Nang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company for treatment. This ensures the street remains clean and tidy for the next day.
