The over VND 145 billion project aims to reduce the flow load for Phu Loc Canal, minimise urban flooding, ensure urban landscape and solve environmental pollution in Thanh Khe and Lien Chieu districts. It also helps increase the drainage capacity of the canal to the Da Nang Bay.
Speaking at the event, Head of the Urban Commission of the municipal People's Council Le Tung Lam said that the sewer line will divide and reduce the flow load for Phu Loc Canal as well as increase the capacity of rainwater drainage in the upstream areas (Me Suot and Thanh Vinh) and lower the water level in the canal to Da Nang Bay in heavy rain conditions. From there, the water flow to the downstream area (Phu Loc and Khe Can) will be reduced, contributing to increasing the drainage capacity of sewers in residential areas in Thanh Khe District to Phu Loc Canal, and reducing localised urban flooding for some areas in Lien Chieu and Thanh Khe districts when there is heavy rain.
