The Biotechnology Centre under the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology hosted a workshop "Models and solutions to transform Hoa Khanh Industrial Park into an ecological industrial park" on Tuesday.

Under the the project "Building Da Nang - an environmentally friendly city" in the 2021-2030 period and the Industrial Pollution Management Programme in Da Nang to 2030, the city targets to convert an industrial park (IP) into an ecological IP model with national criteria by 2025. The Hoa Khanh IP was chosen to pilot this model. This is one of the city's key IPs and has been fully filled with synchronous technical infrastructure, including traffic, drainage, wastewater collection, water supply and lighting systems, and green trees.

However, the production technology of many enterprises in the IP is starting to become outdated, facing difficulties in forming an industrial symbiotic network. Most enterprises have low management skills and limited resources.

Dr. Dang Quang Hai, the Da Nang Biotechnology Centre, said that to convert the Hoa Khanh IP into an ecological IP, it is necessary to focus on four solutions of institutions, policies; governance; support measures; and environmental protection.

He stressed the need for the city to soon propose relevant ministries and branches to issue a Circular guiding the construction of ecological IPs according to Decree No. 35/2022/ND-CP dated May 28, 2022 of the Government regulating the management of IPs and the economy. In addition, there are financial incentives from the budget balance to prioritise supporting investors in developing technical infrastructure systems inside and outside ecological IPs.
