The Da Nang Department of Public Security launched an action campaign on Thursday to ensure security, social order and traffic safety in the city during the upcoming Christmas, New Year, and Lunar New Year holidays.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Le Trung Chinh emphasized that thanks to the synchronous and drastic participation of the entire political system, and the proactiveness and effectiveness of the local Police force, in advising, organising and implementing measures and solutions to prevent, combat, and handle crimes and violations of the law, the political security, social order and traffic safety in the city have always been maintained and stabilised to serve local socio-economic development activities.

To achieve the set goals during the peak period, the city leader requested the Police force to continue to effectively organise the implementation of the fight against crime and law violations, ensuring political security, social order and safety in the city.

At the same time, attention should be paid to closely coordinating with sectors and localities to take solutions and measures to fight against crime and law violations, ensuring security, order, traffic safety and fire and explosion prevention in the city, he added.

Importance should be attached to raising public awareness and self-consciousness to strictly comply with legal regulations of the people, and helping people grasp and clearly identify the methods and tricks of all types of crimes and law violations.

Chairman Chinh also took the opportunity to ask departments, branches, and sectors to clearly unify their awareness, roles, and common responsibilities in ensuring political security and social order and safety; as well as avoid incomplete awareness, thinking that this work is not the responsibility of their agencies, units, or individuals but the task of a single force or specialized sector.

"With the shared responsibility and unanimous participation of the entire political system, we will organise and implement the peak period with the highest success, thereby contributing to effectively serving the city's socio-economic development goals, and maintaining the peace and happiness of the people”, Mr. Chinh believed.

Major General Vu Xuan Vien, Director of the municipal Department of Public Security, said that during the peak period (from December 15, 2024 to February 28, 2025), local police are determined to complete 17 key tasks, and 52 work targets in all fields. In particular, the rate of social order crimes will reduce by at least 5% compared to the same period in 2024. 100% of criminal subjects and drug users in the community, and teenagers with signs of possessing weapons and gathering to fight to cause public disorder will be checked, examined, educated, deterred, managed, monitored, and handled according to regulations.

Efforts will be made to prevent people from illegally using fireworks and decrease the number of traffic accidents on 3 criteria compared to the previous period.
