Ensuring electricity supply for Tet 2025 production
The Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) recently announced plans to ensure a safe, continuous, and stable electricity supply during the 2025 Lunar New Year period. The corporation has proactively developed strategies and implemented measures to guarantee electricity provision for production and business activities.

According to EVNCPC’s Deputy General Director Nguyen Huu Khanh, December 2024 and January 2025 are peak months for Tet goods production. This period also coincides with the onset of the dry season in the Central Highlands, causing a surge in electricity demand in the region.
Maximum load capacity in the region is forecasted to reach 3,888 MW, with average daily consumption around 69.2 million kWh. Key areas with high electricity consumption include Da Nang (9.23 million kWh), Quang Ngai (8.10 million kWh), Khanh Hoa (7.64 million kWh), and Quang Nam (7.36 million kWh).
EVNCPC plans to source 3,372 MW from the national grid. Additionally, the corporation will fully utilise locally managed energy sources, including approximately 546 MW from small hydropower plants and 1,584 MW from solar power during peak hours.
EVNCPC has instructed member power companies to meticulously prepare resources to ensure a safe and uninterrupted electricity supply, especially for businesses producing goods for the Tet holiday. The units are working in coordination with the Central Regional Power System Dispatch Centre to prioritise electricity for production facilities and important customers approved by local governments.
To address extreme weather conditions, EVNCPC has ramped up inspections, resolved outstanding issues, and mitigated risks within power line corridors. Regional power companies are also required to be ready for rapid incident response to maintain a stable and reliable power supply.
Advanced methods such as live-line maintenance and insulator cleaning without power outages are being employed to minimise service disruptions. Additionally, inter-unit coordination across the power grid has been enhanced to prevent outages during the peak period.
“With these decisive measures, EVNCPC is determined to meet the electricity demands for production and daily life during Tet 2025, contributing to the economic and social development of the Central and Central Highlands regions,” affirmed Mr. Khanh.
