Da Nang determined to complete goals and tasks in 2025

The Da Nang People's Committee held a conference on Thursday to review its performance in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025.

Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang commended the People's Committee and the collectives and individuals of departments, agencies and localities for their great efforts and endeavors to complete the tasks and targets of 2024, especially the units advising on the development of resolutions of the National Assembly, as well as those related to site clearance and budget collection.

Regarding the tasks for 2025, Secretary Quang required the entire political system to change awareness and enhance the sense of responsibility to maximise potential and successfully implement the city's development goals.

Da Nang needs to fully tap the advantages, potentials and opportunities that the central government is giving the city. The central government has high expectations and cares about Da Nang, demonstrated through the issuance of many specific mechanisms and policies for the city, he added.

The concretisation and successful implementation of those expectations is the responsibility of Da Nang. Therefore, according to Mr. Quang, it is necessary to change awareness, leadership methods, direction and organisation of implementation to well fulfil the set goals and tasks.

He also stressed the need for the municipal Department of Home Affairs to accelerate the work of streamlining the apparatus in an effective manner in order to improve the effectiveness of administrative reform.

In 2024, the city recorded the good socio-economic growth as many targets exceeded the set plans.

Accordingly, the city’s Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in 2024 rose by 7.51% year-on-year, ranking 2nd in the group of 5 centrally-governed cities, 3rd in the central key economic zone and 29th out of 63 provinces and cities.

The scale of the city's economy in 2024 at current prices stood at more than VND 151,300 billion, expanding by nearly VND 17,000 billion against 2023. The total state budget revenue in the city reached over VND 27,000 billion.

As of December 31, 2024, the disbursement of the public investment capital reached VND 6,815 billion, reaching 93.5% of the plan assigned by the Prime Minister, higher than the same period in 2023 (82.5%). The work strives to achieve 100% of the plan assigned by the Prime Minister and 82% of the plan assigned by the municipal People's Council by January 31, 2025.

During the year, the city focused on promoting domestic and foreign investment attraction, of which 19 new domestic projects were granted with an investment capital of more than VND 75,000 billion, up 35%. To date, 383 projects have been granted investment licenses with a total capital of nearly VND 272,000 billion.

The city attracted more than US$243 million in FDI capital, a rise of 33% against 2023. In particular, 71 new projects were granted investment registration certificates with a total registered capital of more than US$ 233 million. Up to now, the city attracted 1,021 FDI projects totaling over US$ 4.573 billion.

The municipal People's Committee directed departments, branches, sectors and localities to ensure social security, order and safety.

In 2025, the city aims to effectively implement solutions for socio-economic growth with the theme "Year of focusing on streamlining the apparatus associated with cutting administrative procedures, and effectively implementing urban government organization and specific mechanisms and policies to strongly promote economic growth" associated with a number of important socio-economic indicators.

On the occasion, 10 collectives were awarded Certificates of Merit from Chairman of the municipal People's Committee in recognition of their achievements in continuing to unlock resources, promote economic growth, ensure social security, gain achievements in administrative reform, and strengthen discipline and order.
