DA NANG Today
Published: August 06, 2013

Banh Canh (rice spaghetti) is one of the favourite dishes of Da Nang’s people.  There are many kinds of Banh Canh which can be made from rice, wheat and cassava starch.  However, the dish which is made from cassava starch is the most favoured because of its distinctive broth and flavour.

This spaghetti has the thickness and length of a chopstick.  The broth can be cooked with shrimp, meat, pig bone, cha lua (pork bologna) and fish.

It is very pleasant to enjoy a hot bowl of Banh Canh, which is mixed with fresh ingredients, a few thin slices of chilli, and decorated with various types of vegetables to give it fragrance.

In Lien Chieu District’s Nam O fishing village, there is Banh Canh Cho (freshly cooked rice spaghetti).  This means that the food providers only cook the dish when the customers come to their stalls, so you would expect to wait between 5 and 15 minutes for your hot dish.
