Date: This festival is held on the 19th day of the 2nd lunar month

Location: Avalokitecvara Pagoda, the Marble Mountains

Meaning: The Avalokitecvara Festival reflects the forming of the Marble Mountains, Buddha, Avalokitecvara, and the history of the marble stone sculpturing.  The religious festival is held to pray for peace and prosperity, and to give people the opportunity to live a better life in the summer atmosphere.  Held in a natural setting, the festival attracts many pilgrims and tourists from many different regions.  With its many traditional, cultural, and sporting activities, the Avalokitecvara Festival is very important in the local people’s lives.  It has restored and developed some of the traditional characteristics of the Vietnamese.
