E-commerce expected to boom in Viet Nam
With a total market value of 4 billion USD back in 2015, e-commerce in Viet Nam rose drastically to 7.8 billion USD in value in 2018, and is expected to continue on an upward trend.
According to the e-Conomy South East Asia 2019 report by Google, with an average growth of 25% from 2015 to 2018, Viet Nam’s e-commerce market value is likely to hit 33 billion USD in 2025, making the country the third largest e-commerce economy in Southeast Asia.
Doing business online is favoured by many enterprises, especially small and medium sized enterprises and business households thanks to low operation costs. In a recent survey on e-commerce, 36% of participants said they have sold products online, and 45% regarded e-commerce as ‘highly effective’.
Besides promoting e-commerce websites, online retail firms also use social networks as a platform for customer services and marketing.
