EWEC Fair 2013

The 2013 International East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) Trade and Tourism Fair will open on Thursday.  So far, 280 domestic and foreign businesses with over 450 stands have registered to attend this year’s fair.  Displays will include tourism products, electronics, IT, processed and canned food, wooden products and furniture, handicrafts, textiles and garments, fashion accessories, leather goods and footwear, tools and equipment for offices and schools, tourism services, and cuisine, as well as real estate projects which are seeking investment.

ABU Robocon 2013

Organised by the Viet Nam Television Station (VTV) and Da Nang’s branch of VTV, the Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2013 (ABU Robocon) will see the participation of 19 teams with over 200 contestants and a number of technical assistants.  The teams are from Viet Nam, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Mongolia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Fiji, Brunei, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Egypt and Russia.

Artiste Hoai Linh’s comedy show

To mark the 15th anniversary of his return to Viet Nam, artiste Hoai Linh will perform two live shows to express his deep gratitude to his home fans.  He and his invited guests, including comedy artistes Chi Tai and Truong Giang and singers Dam Vinh Hung and Cam Ly, are expected to thrill the local audience with their enchanting performances.

Charity swimming competition

A swimming competition to raise money for local orphans and disadvantaged children will take place in Quang Nam Province’s Hoi An.  The event will see the participation of about 60 swimmers in an over 10km freestyle relay.  Mr Rudy Van Bork from the Netherlands, who is living and working in Hoi An, will swim the longest distance of 10.2km. 

The event is part of a charity programme entitled “Monster Swim Viet Nam”, which is being held in Hoi An from12 - 18 August. 

During the week-long event, T-shirts, caps and tickets for a charity buffet dinner will be sold at information kiosks near the Cau (Bridge) Pagoda.  All money collected will be used to help local orphans and disadvantaged children.

18th fine arts exhibition

An exhibition featuring 63 paintings and statues by 54 artists from Da Nang, Quang Ngai City, and the provinces of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Kom Tum, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Quang Nam.  Their works focus on the themes “Hoa Vang New Rural Area” and “Planning Urban Da Nang ”.  The event is being co-organised by the Viet Nam Fine Arts Association, the city’s Union of Literature and Art Associations, and the local Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
