Da Nang Marathon promises a feast of exciting events

The 2019 Da Nang International Marathon (DNIM 2019) will take place at the East Sea Park in Son Tra District on Sunday 11 August.

DNIM 2019 is expected to attract a total of between 2,000 and 2,700 foreigners, and between 4,500 and 5,000 domestic runners.

DNIM 2019 will comprise 4 races: a 42,195 km full marathon, a 21,0975 km half marathon, a 10km run, and a 5km run.

The route of the full and half marathon races will be the East Sea Park - Vo Nguyen Giap - Nguyen Van Thoai - Tran Thi Ly Bridge - 2 September - Bach Dang -  Nhu Nguyet - Thuan Phuoc Bridge - Le Duc Tho - Hoang Sa - Le Van Luong - Hoang Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap - the East Sea Park, with marathon entrants doing 2 laps.

As for the 10km run, the route will be the East Sea Park - Vo Nguyen Giap - the intersection of Nguyen Van Thoai, Vo Nguyen Giap and Hoang Sa streets - Hoang Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap - the East Sea Park.

With regard to the 5km run, the route will be the East Sea Park - Vo Nguyen Giap - the intersection of Phan Ba Phien and Hoang Sa streets - Vo Nguyen Giap - the East Sea Park.

Prizes will be awarded to the first 3 finishers of the full, half marathon and 10km challenges. 

All finishers in the full, half marathon and 10km races in a maximum request time of 8, 4 and 3 hours respectively will receive a Finisher’s Medal and a souvenir T-shirt each.

Everyone who finishes the 5km run will receive a Finisher's Certificate.

Most interestingly, the race’s organisers encourage students from universities across the city to compete in a school category.

In addition to participating in the 5km run, each university will send one male and one female students to compete in the 10km run.

In attempting to spread spirit of the marathon, and that of sports in general to young people, the organisers will provide about 1,000 and 20 free places for the 5km and 10km runs respectively for local university students.

Recently, the municipal People’s Committee has issued a plan on organising some exciting support activities within the framework of DNIM 2019.

In particular, a photo contest entitled ‘Because I love Da Nang’ will be launched in May. The intention of the event is to introduce beautiful images of the seaside city and that of previous events to runners and visitors.

Entries will be voted via social network in May and June, and the contest’s organisers will select the 20 most outstanding photos for displaying.

Besides, starting from 6 August, a press conference to publicise DNIM 2019 will be held in the city, whilst race route tours by bicycles, electric vehicles and buses will be launched.

On 10 August, Ronny Dash a 1km race for kids aged between 3 and 10 will take place at the East Sea Park. This exciting event aims at encouraging children to be more active, healthy, and show their love with Da Nang.
