The first impression and also the most remarkable advantage of the Bao Fam restaurant is its cozy space, and special minimalist architecture with the eye-catching dominant white colour, hereby creating comfort for customers.

Hand made Taiwanese Gua bao, known as a pork belly bun, is one of the top choice on the menu offered by Bao Fam. It consists of a slice of stewed meat and other condiments sandwiched between flat steamed bread known as lotus leaf bread (he ye bing). The lotus leaf bun is typically 6 - 8 cm (2.4 - 3.1 in) in size, semi-circular and flat in form, with a horizontal fold that, when opened, gives the appearance that it has been sliced. The traditional filling for gua bao is a slice of red-cooked porkbelly, typically dressed with stir-fried suan cai (pickled mustard greens), coriander, and ground peanuts.

Aside from Gua bao, Bao Fam also offers many other types of dumplings for customers, including as baked dumplings, and those made with fried shrimp and crispy chicken and minced beef.

Ms Nguyen Vu Hanh Chi, the owner of the Bao Fam restaurant, said, Bao Fam's dumplings are similar to those sold in Taiwan. In particular, special healthy yeast is used to create these tasty dumplings, instead of using baking powder to make Vietnamese ones.

Another dish which is much preferred by Bao Fam’s customers is Taiwan beef noodle soup, which is ‘red-braised’ (slow-cooked in soy sauce). The restaurant’s cooking staff has made suitable adjustments to the this dish in order to satisfy the different taste of Vietnamese customers.

In addition, visitors to Bao Fam are treated to other delicious dishes to empty their stomachs. Included are fried rice with pork and burnt garlic, spicy stir-fried beef rice, and such snacks peach egg, fried chicken with cinnamon leaves, shrimp and taro fritters, plus a wide range of drinks.

The price of these dishes hovers at between 30,000 VND to 65,000 VND per portion, whilst drinks are offered at between 10,000 VND and 25,000 VND. The restaurant only opens from 9.00am to 7.00pm from Tuesday to Sunday.

If you don't plan to go anywhere far away from home on weekends, why don’t hang out with your family members and friends, and enjoy a wide selection of dumpling cakes and tasty snacks at Bao Fam.
