The 33-year-old woman said she initially participated in sewing courses with the aim of making cute dresses for her little daughter by herself. Then, she has often shown off her finished products on Facebook.
Unexpectedly, Thanh’s handmade clothes have been highly appreciated by her friends, and Mrs Thanh has received many orders from them. So, she has a new job of sewing clothes, bags, and aprons from imported cotton / linen fabrics in addition to taking care of her child.
Finally, she decided to quit her well-paying job as a white-collar worker at a foreign company in order to start up her own business making handmade items for sale.
She has opened the Tiny Nest Café at 11 Le Huu Khanh in Ngu Hanh Son District no long after she has done her own business. Her shop provides a specialised space for displaying her handmade products, and it is a place where young mothers gather to share their parenting experience.
In addition to making handicrafts for sale, Mrs Thanh has opened free classes at Tiny Nest to teach children how to make handicrafts and cakes, and how to draw on Saturdays.
The young mother said she plans to open free-of-charge English book reading classes for children at Tiny Nest on weekday afternoons. She hoped that the existing and soon-to-be-opened classes will help parents build a closer relationship with their children.
