The Yen Retreat Tourist Site located in Hoa Bac Commune opened to the public in May 2019, and it becomes emerging destinations for local residents and tourists.

This inviting site offers its visitors a variety of wonderful experiences with a flavour of leisure camping, kite flying, fishing, special dishes of Da Nang and Quang Nam Province. This stunning eco-tourism site has a total area of 3.3ha, of which 1.2ha is being exploited. The maximum number of people that is allowed to visit this site within a given period is 60 in a bid to limit noise.

Mr. Bui Duc Vu, the owner of the Yen Retreat Tourist Site said that the site will keep its visitors fully informed about its regulations that donot allow to use portable karaoke machines with a microphone and amplifier to sing, require them to put their waste in the right place, and donnot allow unreasonable noise from them in order to keep the site safe and security, as well as protect its ecological environment.

In his efforts to diversify tourism products to attract more visitors to his tourist site, Mr. Vu will build a kiln to be used in sugar production from sugarcane, set up the cooking oil extraction machine that enables users to extract oil from peanuts, introduce Co Tu people’s fabric dying technique. The intention is to introduce Co Tu people’s tradditional crafts to visitors in an effort to preserve and promote the cultural identity of this ethnic community and this locality as a whole.

Mr Luc has turned a vacant land in his family's homestay located in Hoa Trung Village, Hoa Ninh Commune into a campsite called "Dad Camp". The new development covers nearly 2,000square meters and it consists of main living space, acoustic stage and tent camping that has a maximum capacity of 30 campers.

According to Mr. Luc, spontaneous camping may cause insecurity and environmental problems while many potential risks could arise during spontaneous camping trips. Especially, fire is a serious risk in spontaneous sites. Managed campsites are putting in place rules and regulations that require their guests to obey in a bid to ensure the safety for them, and create a welcoming environment, as well as protect nature for humans' sake and campgrounds for future generations.

Hoa Vang District is now home to 20 community tourism sites, including the Yen Retreat, Nguoi Vilage, A Lang Nhu Homestay, An Nhien Farm, Meken Farm. These sites are mainly located in Hoa Bac and Hoa Ninh communes.

The authorities in Hoa Vang District place emphasis on installing warning signs in common areas where drowning accidents and rockfall incidents occur. The heed is paid to increasing awareness of environmental protection among travellers taking spontaneous trips, as well as stepping up patrols in order to ensure security and safety for travellers and prevent wildfires.

Mr Nguyen Thuc Dung, the Vice Chairman of the Hoa Vang District People's Committee said proudly that the district boasts huge tourism potential and efforts are underway to promote sustainable tourism with a focus on developing tourism to go hand in hand with environmental protection. Special attention is given to the protection and rational use of natural resources in addition to reducing waste and reusing items as much as possible that is a great way to reduce tourism impact on the environment.
