Cambodia's garment export revenue increases 22 pct
Cambodia ’s garment export revenue over the past 11 months increases by 22 percent year-on-year to 5.07 billion USD, according to the country’s Ministry of Commerce.
The garment industry is Cambodia’s biggest foreign currency earner with revenue from exports to the US increasing by 9 percent, to Europe by 33 percent, and to other markets by 31 percent, the ministry’s statistics show.
General secretary of the Cambodia ’s garment association Ken Loo attributed the increase to the optimistic economic growth which led to the commissioning of many factories.
The industry makes up about 80 percent of the country’s export revenue with some 500 factories and 510,000 workers. Its products are exported mainly to the US , Canada , Europe, Japan , China and other Asian countries.
