During his stay in Jakarta, the Japanese FM held talks with his Indonesian counterpart Marty Natalegawa and met President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Kishida reaffirmed the Japanese Government’s commitment to helping Indonesia improve its maritime infrastructure as part of efforts to strengthen the two countries’ strategic partnership before Yudhoyono’s Presidential term ends in October.

Japan also plans to support the Southeast Asian nation in developing its fisheries sector and transport infrastructure, said Kishida.

At Kishida’s meeting with President-elect Joko Widodo, both sides discussed measures to intensify the future bilateral relations, focusing on legal sovereignty at sea, investment opportunities and infrastructure improvement.
