The agreement on border demarcation on east of the Strait of Singapore was signed in Singapore by Foreign Minister K. Shanmugam and his Indonesian counterpart Marty Natalegawa during Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s visit to Singapore from September 2-4.

The border towards the east of the Strait of Singapore includes the water area between Indonesia’s Batam island and Singapore’s Changi.

In 2009, the two countries inked an agreement on border demarcation on west of the Strait of Singapore.
