Singapore unveils Third Green Building Master Plan
Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority (BCA) has released its Third Green Building Master Plan, paving the way for green construction efforts over the next five to ten years.
The plan was announced by Singapore’s Minister for National Development, Khaw Boon Wan, during the opening ceremony of the International Green Building Conference in conjunction with Asia Building Eco Expo (BEX).
According to the minister, while the first two phrases of the plan highlight green building practices adopted in the construction of existing and new buildings, the third phrase focus on occupant behaviour.

As part of the plan, occupants and house owners will have access to 50 million SGD (39.89 million USD) as part of the Green Mark Fund for the installation of electricity and water saving devices.
Another fund of 52 million SGD ( 41.49 million USD) was established to support the development of solutions for green buildings in the tropics.
The BCA’s Chief Executive said Singapore launched numerous programmes to boost the implementation of the master plan. In the public sector, buildings comprising more than 5.000m2 of square floor must be constructed following green building practices.
The main objective is that by 2030 at least 80 percent of buildings in Singapore will be green works.
