ASEAN - the biggest trade partner of Malaysia

The Malaysian Statistics Department unveiled on October 16 that ASEAN is the country’s biggest trade partner in 2013.

The ASEAN member countries made up 28.1 percent of Malaysia’s exports last year, followed by China, with 13.4 percent, and Japan, 11.1 percent.
Regarding Malaysia’s imports, ASEAN held 26.7 percent while China accounted for 16.4 percent and the EU, 10.8 percent.
The department also said that foreign direct investment (FDI) flows to ASEAN nations hit 122 billion USD in 2013, with half of them going to Singapore, 15.1 percent to Indonesia, 10.6 percent to Thailand and 10 percent to Malaysia.
