This is part of the government’s target of receiving 29.4 million foreign visitors to the country next year, said Minister of Tourism and Culture Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.
The number of Chinese tourists has been dropping since May, he noted, stressing the need to lure Chinese people back to Malaysia.
He proposed the exemption of visa fee of 80 CNY (12.8 USD) per person for Chinese tourists, which has been done by six other ASEAN countries, namely Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.
