Malaysia, Thailand strengthen cooperation in rubber sector
Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said on December 1 that his country and Thailand would discuss about the further cooperation in order to stabilise the price of natural rubber.
The PM underscored the importance for Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia in the International Tripartite Rubber Council (ITRC) to continue working together to support the council revive the rubber price.

At a press conference on the sidelines of his meeting with Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha at Putrajaya, Najib said both countries, along with Vietnam, agreed about efforts to raise the rubber price as well as finding solutions to encourage the use of natural rubber in other new products.
Najib also said that he and his Thai counterpart had discussed about joint development strategies for the border area, including establishing rubber cities in order to promote the natural rubber industries in both countries.
According to Douglas Uggah Embas, Minister of Plantation and Goods, the three ITRC countries account for around 67 percent of the total volume of the global natural rubber, while Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam altogether hold a share of 13 percent.
