Malaysia spends 250 million USD to help flood victims
The Malaysian government has so far spent some 800 million RM (250 million USD) via the National Security Council (MKN) to support flood victims, according to Bernama news agency.

The news agency quoted Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan as saying at the Finance Ministry's Flood Relief Humanitarian Mission Programme on January 5 that the aid was used to supply the victims with food, logistics and house cleaning.
The deputy minister said the Government is also preparing for a contingency provision should a second wave of floods hit the country.
According to the deputy finance minister, there will be billions of Ringgit required to help the victims and to rehabilitate areas, which were severely damaged by the natural disaster.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar told Bernama that a total of 23 people died and three remain missing during the historic floods which swept the east coast states over the last three weeks.
