The aircraft fell into the Java Sea on December 28, 2014 while en route from Indonesia's Surabaya to Singapore with 162 passengers and crew members aboard, including 155 Indonesians, three Koreans, one Singaporean, one Malaysian, one French and one British.

According to Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, bad weather may be a factor leading to the crash.

So far, 30 bodies have been transported to Surabaya for identification.

Five big pieces of wreckage of the ill-fated plane have been discovered with the biggest measuring 18 metres in length. The flight recorder, popularly known as "black box", is yet to be found.
