Lao Prime Minister begins visit to Japan

Laos Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong arrived in Tokyo on March 4, beginning his four-day official visit to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and expand bilateral political and economic relations.

The Lao PM is scheduled to hold an audience with Emperor Akihito and talk with his Japanese counterpart, Shinzo Abe, on March 6.
The visit comes as the two countries are stepping up their economic ties.
According to data from the Japanese Government, the number of Japanese investors in Laos doubled to about 120 in late last year from that of 2012.
