Singapore launches global tourism campaign
The Singaporean Government has recently announced a financial package of 20 million SGD (over 15 million USD) to implement a series of measures globally in an effort to draw international tourists to the island.
The move came after statistics showed a decrease in the number of international visitors to the Southeast Asian island nation in the whole year of 2014 and in the early months of 2015.

Addressing an annual Conference on Industry and Tourism held on April 7, Singaporean Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry S Iswaran underlined that the campaign is part of a three-way approach implemented by the Government to raise the number of international visitors.
The three-way approach to the hospitality industry includes pushing for in-depth development, boosting promotion activities, and sharpening its competitiveness.
According to the Singapore Tourism Board, the global campaign will be promoted through various channels such as airway, hotels, retail services, and entertainment activities with a focus on travellers from Indonesia, China, and India.
Promotion and advertising campaigns will be stepped up to introduce Singapore as a friendly and safe destination in the region and the world, especially during the events and activities in anticipation with the country’s 50th National Day anniversary.
The Government will also increase financial support for travel companies, especially medium- and small-sized ones, to enhance their competitiveness, via trademark-building, marketing, and data system improvement projects.
