Indonesia reveals attack suspects' identities

Indonesian authorities have announced the identities of four of the five dead suspects of terror attacks in downtown Jakarta on January 14, which claimed seven lives.

Police named two suspects, Afif Dias Sukanti and Muhammad Ali, on January 16.

National Police chief Badrodin Haiti said Afif was arrested in 2010 for terror activities in Aceh province in northern Sumatra. He was sentenced to seven years in jail, but was freed in August 2015.

The second suspect was said to have supported gunmen attacking a Starbucks cafe near the Siranah shopping centre. These two suspects were killed during a gun battle with police.

Police also identified Ahmad Muhazab bin Saroni, 25, as the suicide bomber inside the Starbucks cafe and Dian Juni Kurniadi, who was acting as a suicide bomber at the police box.

Authorities claim the main organiser of the bombings and shootings was 32-year-old Muhammad Bahrun Naim Anggih Tantomo, an Islamic State follower now based in Syria.

Police also arrested 12 suspects in connection with the deadly incident. The arrestees came from West and Central Java, and East Kalimanta.
