Minister of Commerce Abhiradee Tantraporn has held a meeting with representatives of agricultural product and food exporters such as the Thai Frozen Foods Association, Thai Tuna Industry Association and the Thai Broiler Processing Exporters Association to evaluate the current trade situation and set future promotion plans.
After the meeting, the minister remarked that Thai food exports are looking up in the latter half of the year, mostly thanks the government’s efforts to address illegal fishing and labour problems, resulting in an improved image of Thailand’s businesses and facilitating international trade deals.
Thai food exports are expected to grow 1.9 percent this year to a value of 3.358 billion USD. The ministry believes the entire export sector will grow by 0.3 percent.
