Indonesia deploys over 60,000 security personnel for election

Indonesia will deploy about 61,000 security personnel during the gubernatorial polls in the country's capital of Jakarta on April 19, National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian said on April 18.

The forces, including 20,000 policemen, 15,000 soldiers and 26,000 personnel from community protection agencies, will be dispatched to over 13,000 polling stations across the city, Karnavian added.
In addition, there are also standby policemen and soldiers.
The second round of the polls witnesses the race of Jakarta’s current Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and former Minister for Education and Culture Anies Baswedan.
