They are now considered ready to return to their homes on 19 July when members of the media will be asked to avoid asking them questions that may cause trauma.

Minister of Public Health Dr Piyasakol Sakolsathayadhorn said that relatives are now allowed to see and meet with the 12 boys and one adult of the Moo Pa Academy youth football team but are required to wear face masks and to thoroughly wash their hands before and after contact. The entire team is scheduled to be released from hospital on 19 July.

While all the team members have shown good mental well-being, members of the media have been asked to avoid any lines of questioning that may be stressful if they interview the boys.

Ministry of Public Health Inspector Dr Thongchai Lerswilairattanapong added that each of the team members has gained two to three kilograms in weight, indicating improving physical health. They are now engaging in sessions to prepare them emotionally for reintegration into society.

Mae Sai Hospital and the local health promotion facility have joined in preparing post-hospital care for the young football team and will be working with its members’ families and teachers to ensure their transition back into normal daily life is smooth.

A guidebook on healthcare has been distributed to all involved and guardians have been told to initially monitor the weight of each of the team members. Their school performance is to also be tracked.
