The event took place on December 2 at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld in Bangkok.
It was held in honour of Queen Sirikit for her contributions to the conservation and research for further development of Thai textiles to gain world-class recognition.
This year's event marked the first upgrade of its scale, as organisers have sent Thai silk to designers around the world to create their fashion costumes out of Thai silk. It featured fashion design showcases from 48 countries.
The PM said Thai silk is a well-known national heritage which requires skills and great attention to details. Queen Sirikit has graciously paid her interest to this heritage, which is related to the livelihood, art, culture, and local wisdom of Thai people, creating more jobs which helped villagers and local communities earn more income.
The opening ceremony was followed by a fashion show by a Malaysian designer Jimmy Choo, who has given a pair of No.7 shoes made with Thai silk to the representative of the Queen, in order to put the shoes on exhibition at Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles located inside the Grand Palace in Bangkok.
