The infected poultry was found at a market in Daunkeo district, the southern province of Takeo, the OIE citied the information provided by the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture.

The new H5N6 strain was detected by the Pasteur Institute in Cambodia late last month, the statement said, without specifying whether the infected birds were chickens, ducks or other types of poultry.

Cambodia’s animal health authorities have intensified monitoring and set up protection zones around the affected area following the case.
