An entertainment complex was inaugurated at Singapore’s Changi airport on 11 April in the hope of making passengers feel relaxed and comfortable when transiting the airport.

Build on 135,700 sq.m at a cost of 1.7 billion SGD (1.25 billion USD), the four-storey Jewel complex has gardens, 280 retail and food outlets, a hotel and cinema. It links to three terminals of the airport.

The highlight of the complex is a 40-metre indoor waterfall cascading through a steel and glass dome.

Apart from attracting more passengers to the airport, the complex serves as destination for Singaporeans to shop and dine, and enjoy entertainment services.

The complex began welcoming a limited number of visitors this week before fully opening to the public from 17 April.

In 2018, Changi airport served a record 65.6 million passengers, becoming the world’s seventh busiest airport. It was honoured as the best airport in the world by Skytrax for eight times.
