Speaker of the House of Representatives Chuan Leekpai called on MPs and senators to make a concerted effort to find a solution to the political conflict.

Student-led protests have escalated over the past three months, and with the latest one on October 14, when demonstrators gathered en masse in the Thai capital.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha declared a state of emergency in Bangkok effective from 4:00 am on 15 October to control the escalating pro-democracy protest by demonstrators. He removed the status on 22 October.

In a televised speech on 21 October  evening, the PM called on relevant parties to keep calm and take part in dialogue to solve conflicts.
