The Health Ministry of Laos said on September 11 that the country logged 204 cases of COVID-19, including 120 community infections, in the past 24 hours, raising the total caseload to 17,140, with 16 deaths.
The ministry noted that the daily number of community infections has reached three digits, with many recent cases involving staff members at medical and quarantine facilities as well as the police and military forces.
In another development, Laos has set up a labour market information centre to support labourers made jobless by the pandemic to seek employment.
The centre will collect information to help policy makers devise support policies for the unemployed.
