Earthquake shakes offshore Java island

A 7.0 magnitude earthquake shook offshore Java island in Indonesia on April 14.

There are no reports of casualties or damage caused by the earthquake so far.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake occurred at 4:55pm (Indonesia time), with a depth of 594km and an epicenter located about 160km northwest of Surabaya, Indonesia's second most populous city. The tremor could also be felt on Bali island.
The Indonesian Meteorology Agency said the earthquake is not likely to cause a tsunami.
Indonesia frequently experiences earthquakes as it is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire. In last November, a 5.6-magnitude earthquake in West Java province on Java island claimed the lives of over 600 people.
