The centre, located at 21 Ho Tuong Street, includes a free to use court and a gymnasium for competition and training.

The basketball centre will offer 2 training courses – one with Vietnamese coaches and the other with coaches from the USA – under curriculum from USA Basketball, the governing body for the sport in the USA.

The Vietnamese programme will consist of 2 sessions in the mornings and evenings during weekdays.

Meanwhile, the English course will have 2 sessions on Thursdays and Sundays.

The centre will host weekly tournaments, and all matches will be streamed live on the centre’s page at https://www.facebook.com/DNBDC/ and Youtube.

According to the Viet Nam Basketball Federation, there are approximately 6,000 amateur players across the country, with 100 playing professionally for 8 men’s and 5 women’s teams.

Although basketball has an Olympic sport since 1932, the national administration is still reluctant to promote it.

The sport is popular in universities, colleges and amateur clubs throughout the country.

Last year, the Da Nang Dragons team beat HCM City Wings 85-78 to win the 1st national professional basketball league.
