The ‘Developing high-speed hardware firewalls’ scientific research is a typical example.

Created by the Da Nang Centre for Integrated Circuitry (CENTIC), the first-of-its-kind product in the country boasts high-speed, large processing capacity, and high applicability.

The product helps Viet Nam to reduce foreign dependency in its IT sector, as well as ensures security of information in the country’s network.

Mr Nguyen Hoai Duc, Head of the project, said some popular firewalls are made by such foreign technological firms as Cisco, Juniper, and F5. These expensive products have faced high risks of unauthorised access, and secret information theft.

He, therefore, underlined the importance of the Vietnamese-made firewall product in gaining greater self-control in ensuring security of the country’s information.

Early this year, CENTIC started to install its firewall product in universities, businesses, government departments and agencies nationwide in a bid to commercialise the product in the coming time.

Also, the ‘Asphalt concrete can resist tire traces’ project which has been implemented by the municipal Department of Transport has proved very effective.

Under the project, 3 types of asphalt concrete have met the technical requirements for standards and quality of the transportation sector. They are the Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB) III asphalt, Rubind active rubber powder, and SBS-modified asphalt reinforced with glass fibers.

After one year of being putting into use, the SBS-modified asphalt reinforced with glass fibers has a lower sink depth than the others, and it, with reasonable prices, can be brought to fruition effectively.

Over recent years, the city’s scientific and technological research projects have met the targets of the scientific research to technological development programme in gaining self-control in technology, creating more technical solutions, and developing advanced technologies.

According to a spokesperson for the Department of Science and Technology, these scientific and technological research projects have met the practical demand, and been brought to fruition effectively.
