Clean water and improved sanitation in Hoa Vang District
Under the ‘Hoa Vang - an Environmentally-Friendly District’ project, a total of 49.7 billion VND from the district’s budget has been spent on building and upgrading 31 clean and safe water supply systems in the district. This has helped to give 98.2% of the local rural households access to clean water.
To date, over 2.3 billion VND has also been spent on building sanitation facilities for 2,556 local households. 99% of local residents now have their own sanitation facilities which meet the city’s hygiene standards.
In addition, 765 million VND from the district’s budget has gone to installing biogas systems for 255 local livestock breeding farms. Eighty of the 119 district villages now have garbage collected from the homes of villagers.
More than 17,000 green trees have been planted across the district, and 34 environment clubs have been established.
Currently, 10 out of the 11 communes in Hoa Vang District meet the environmental protection criteria, whilst the one remaining, Hoa Bac Commune, is striving to meet the criteria by late 2016.
