In the wake of recent incidents of itchy rashes covering some part of swimmers’ bodies after swimming at Da Nang’s beaches, the municipal People’s Committee has directed relevant agencies to regularly take seawater samples from local coastal waters for testing.

The intention is to ensure that seawater quality parameters are within allowable limits, and they entirely meet the national standards for swimming and water sports activities.

The municipal authorities will clearly identify certain marine species and other reasons which may be responsible for bathers’ itchy rashes.

Moreover, any cases of post-swimming rashes must be reported to the municipal government in a timely fashion in order to give warnings to swimmers.

In other news, the municipal government has also asked concerned units to give the priority to promoting the handling and appraisal of drainage and wastewater treatment projects along eastern coastal areas as soon as posible.

The city leaders also underlined an urgent need to appraise the dossiers of water environment improvement projects to the east of Son Tra District, and the upgrade of the Ngu Hanh Son and Phu Loc wastewater treatment plants.
