According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), the wet weather conditions experienced in central localities from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, in recent days are expected to continue until Friday, 20 July. Moderate to heavy thundery showers are forecast in these localities during this week.

The rain is caused by the influence of the inter-tropical convergence zone combined with a subtropical ridge.

Over the next few days, Da Nang is expected to see scattered rain and thunderstorms in some its part, especially in the late afternoon.

The average temperatures are predicted to hover at between 25 and 33 degrees Celsius.

The Da Nang coast is bracing for seasonal southwesterly winds at levels 3-4 and sea waves from 0.75 - 1.75m high.

Meanwhile, the Hoang Sa Archipelago is also experiencing scattered shower, thunderstorms and strong winds at level 5, with gusts of level 6, and heavy rough seas with sea waves from 1- 2m high.

Currently, northern and central provinces are facing two tropical pressures that appeared at the same time on Monday.

The first one formed the Tokin Gulf, near the coast of Thanh Hoa – Ha Tinh.

At 11.00am on Monday, the tropical depression was located at latitude 18.7°N and longitude 108.1°E, with strongest winds near its centre estimated at 39 – 49 kph (level 6), and squalls of level 8.

The front is expected to make landfall at 4.00pm today before weakening on Wednesday.
Rough seas with waves of 2-3 high can be expected in the Tonkin Gulf.

Meanwhile, the second one reportedly appeared near the East Sea on Monday morning.

By 1.00pm Monday, the depression’s position had been at about 180km to the northeast of the Philippines’ Luzon Island with wind speeds of up to 60km per hour.

The system is moving quickly west-northwest at 30 -35km per hour, and is forecast to gain in strength and develop into a storm after entering the northern part of the East Sea.

The storm is on course to make landfall by 1.00pm on Wednesday in north-central provinces, packing wind speeds of up to 75km per hour near its centre.
