At 11:45 am on June 30, a fishing boat with unknown number caught fire whilst it was anchored on the east bank of the Han River in An Hai Tay Ward, Son Tra District. The fire then spread to the nearby vessel DNA 91004 TS.

After receiving a report from local residents, some fire engines along with dozens of firefighters from the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Divisions in Son Tra and Hai Chau districts arrived on the scene quickly to extinguish the fire.

The firefighters in collaboration with local residents pulled the burning ships close to the shore to put out the blaze.

The fire was basically under control by around 12:10am on the same day but there was still a large amount of smoke. Therefore, firefighters kept staying at the scene to spray water to prevent the fire from breaking out again.

Cabins and some fishing gear of the vessels are totally damaged during the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
