Action to counter fake famous global brand name products
Products with famous global brand names such as Gucci, Chanel, Puma, Apple, Prada and Adidas have always won the trust of consumers worldwide. However, the more popular these brand names are, the higher the number of fake and counterfeit products will be made. This causes an economic loss of about 600 billion USD for these product suppliers every year, and the figure is expected to increase even more in the future.
Over recent years, Da Nang has seen an increasing number of these fake and counterfeit products, especially fashionable clothes and consumer goods. After any new authentic product goes on sale, a large number of fake ones will be produced within a short period of time. Of course, the fake items will be sold at prices many times cheaper than the authentic ones.
Introducing ways to distinguish fake and counterfeit goods |
According to the city’s Markets Management Bureau, a large number of fake and counterfeit items, valued at over 1 billion VND, are seized and destroyed annually in the city. In 2012 and 2013, 4,000 and 3,000 respectively fake and counterfeit products were destroyed. Between January and February this year, a wide range of products, worth over 500 million VND in total, have so far been destroyed by the local markets management forces. The products have included electronic items, fashionable clothes, cosmetics, footwear and watches. The majority of them have been transported illegally into the city from China.
To deal this problem, some representative offices of world-renowned foreign manufacturers in Viet Nam will work closely with local relevant agencies to fight against the fake and counterfeit products trade.
