GDP up 7.8% in first quarter
In the 1st quarter of this year, Da Nang recorded a reasonable rate of economic growth compared with the same period last year. The city’s gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 7.8% to an estimated 9,407 billion VND. The local industrial development index rose by 10.47%, higher than the 8.29% in the same period of 2013.
The city’s total budget collection reached an estimated 2,543.7 billion VND, fulfilling 21.8% of the year’s estimate. Of this, the domestic collection hit 1,802.7 billion VND, excluding land-use fees, which represents 26.1% of the year’s estimate.
During the period, the city gave top priority to accelerating the implementation of its key projects and social welfare policies.
However, the first 3 months of the year still saw a slow recovery of production and business activities in the city. In attempting to solve this issue, the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Vo Duy Khuong, asked local relevant agencies to help local businesses to deal with their problems regarding industrial production and commercial, service and tourism activities.
