Following a recent decision by the Da Nang authorities, the Fund for Supporting Da Nang’s Fishermen will be established under the management of the municipal People’s Committee.

The Fund will receive donations from domestic and foreign organisations and individuals.  The purpose of the Fund is to assist local fishermen who encounter difficulties due to natural disasters and other incidents which might occur whilst they are operating legally in Viet Nam's territorial waters. The focus will also be on helping those who want to upgrade their fishing boat’s seafood freezers, install modern equipment, build new boats, or increase the capacity of their existing boats.  Top priority will also be given to providing vocational training to local fishermen.

The Fund will operate on a non-profit basis in a transparent manner.  The city’s Department of Finance and other local relevant agencies will be responsible for ensuring the transparency of the Fund in terms of listing the donors and their donations of cash or materials.
