On Thursday, the Head of the Economics and Budget Board of the Da Nang People's Council, Mr Mai Duc Loc, met with some representatives of the municipal Department of Construction to review the local construction sector’s performance over the first 6 months of this year.  The purpose was to prepare for the upcoming 10th session of the city’s People’s Council in its 8th tenure.

During the review period, no housing projects for local workers have been implemented in the city, but the Sai Gon Xanh-Thuan Phuoc Joint Stock Company has converted its housing project into a social housing one.  The project consists of 8 blocks with a total of 1,632 apartments for sale to low-income earners and workers from local industrial parks.

There are currently 586 State-owned houses under the control of the city’s Housing Management Company.  In detail, 495 of them have been leased to local residents, 18 have been leased to local agencies and businesses, 46 are used by local administrative agencies, 18 are used by local departments and associations, and 9 are currently empty.

The city’s authorities will focus on building drainage systems in some residential areas in An Hai Tay Ward, along with locations near the Phong Bac canal, to reduce flooding problems in advance of the rainy season.  The city’s authorities are now considering allocating funds for the construction of these drainage systems.

With regard to the city’s Urban Tree Planting Project over the 2011 - 2015 period, 17,070m2 of flower beds and grass along with 2,770 trees have been planted in the city.  Meanwhile, about 70% of the construction of a seedling garden in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Ninh Commune has so far been completed.
