The Deputy Director of the Da Nang International Airport, Mr To Ngoc Hai, said on Monday that PE Hanbon anti-leak sheeting made in South Korea is being installed on a trial basis to try to solve a 21m-long, 1m-wide leaking roof at the airport.

In the early afternoon of 1 August, strong winds and accompanying heavy rain caused many leaks above the check-in area and waiting hall.  The airport’s technical staff used water-proof adhesive to deal with the leaks temporarily.

Mr Hai reports that if the South Korean anti-leak sheeting is still in good condition one-week after installation, it will be used to deal with other leaks at the airport.  The installation of the water-proof sheeting would take nearly 2 months and cost of over 1 billion VND.  The sheets have a 5-year limited warranty and can withstand the harsh weather conditions in the central region.
