October's CPI expected to be up only 0.06%

Da Nang’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in October is expected to have risen by only 0.06% against the previous month.

The highest increases during the month are expected in food (0.64%) followed by garments, hats and footwear (0.27%), and household appliances and equipment (0.26%).

Medicines and healthcare services prices are predicted to have climbed by 0.13%, with the prices of cultural, entertainment and tourism services by 0.07%, and those of other commodities and services by 0.17%.

Although not included in the CPI calculations, at this stage in the month the price of gold has dropped by 4.02% and the exchange rate for the US dollar has risen by 0.13% against the previous month.

The city’s average CPI between January and October is expected to have increased by 3.61% over the same period last year.  Over the period, the price of education will have jumped dramatically, up 7.63%, and the prices of other commodities and services by 5.3%.  The prices of food are likely to have increased by 5.43%, and those of garments, hats and footwear by 4.74%.

Meanwhile, other commodity categories have recorded a lower increase than the average over the same period last year.  In particular, the prices of post and telecommunications will have fallen by 0.52% and gold by 13.76%, whilst the exchange rate for the US dollar has risen by around 0.75%.
